About 500 clients a year are supported by the Transitional and Housing Support Program (THSP) of Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis. Due to the housing crisis and emergency shelters being at capacity for longer periods, counsellors are exceptionally creative and collaborative in finding safe options.

Whether someone is living with abuse, planning to leave, or has already left, THSP counsellors offer free, confidential, trauma-informed services tailored to their needs. This includes counselling, safety planning, risk assessments, housing support, legal referrals, and system navigation.

THSP counsellors walk alongside survivors every step of the way—offering safety, hope, and a path to a stronger future. 

Marianne’s Place

Marianne’s Place is a 28-bed shelter for woman and children fleeing intimate partner violence (IPV). The shelter served 167 women and children last year. This is an over 20% increase in clients compared to the previous year. A not-so-fun fact, intimate partner violence has now been declared an epidemic by The City of Guelph. Our shelter provides safety and support and is critical for a healthy Guelph and Wellington County.
