2nd Annual Run/Walk in Saskatoon to honor our little ancestors who did not survive the Residential school era and in support and solidarity for the survivors who fight every day for healing and justice. This event aims to raise funds for the Orangeshirtday.org as well as local grassroots movements including promoting and supporting Indigenous athletes. This will be a trail run through the beautiful Meewasin Trail starting at Victoria Bridge and includes three distances of 5 & 10 km and an Elder & Kids 2.15 km walk/run. Cancellation policy can be found on our website Indigenous Runner | Red Trail Running
All are WELCOME
Not ten years ago, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada had estimated that more than 4,100 Indigenous children have perished due to “disease or accident while attending a residential school", yet we know that number is much, much higher. Tragically, ongoing investigations have revealed thousands more unmarked gravesites near to, or on the grounds of Canada’s former residential schools.
Please join us again on September 30th in remembrance and to spread the TRUTH and to yell loudly that.

Event Schedule
Beginning at 8:30am volunteers will be onsite to facilitate race/walk information and assist with last-minute registration (capped at 50). At 9:15am the event begins with a prayer ceremony, led by an Elder -- an honor song sung by a traditional drumming group and brief commentary from guest speakers. At 9:40am there will be a pre-race, group warm-up to ensure we are warm, smiling and ready to hit the trail and finally, at 10:00am all three distances of racers/runners/walkers begin their race!

Route Information
This year's race/run/walk will be held on the Meewasin Trail on the west side of the Saskatchewan river. Participants will need to meet at Rotary Park (east side of the Saskatchewan river) for the race marshalling area. Proceeding the opening prayer/ceremony, race participants will be directed to make their way onto the Victoria Bridge (bridge will be closed to observe this amazing event) where we will line up at the start line for a warm-up and stretch with the Race Director, to make sure we are all ready to move together in health happiness and unison!
The course starts from the Victoria bridge and from there we will make a left turn, wrapping around the roundabout and statue of Chief Whitecap, making your way down Meewasin trail for and "out and back" course for all distances! The course will be flagged with pilons, signs, volunteers and one water/cheer station, hosted by Saskatoon's Lululemon team at the 10km turnaround point. Each distance will have a turnaround point with volunteers and a sign indicating when you need to turn back and head towards the finish line. The finish line will end at the, "Coming Spring Monument", adjacent to Spadina crescent.
