Jonesy’s Run is a 5K run/walk in honour of Windsor’s Bob Jones, a former assistant coach for the Ottawa Senators, who passed away from of ALS on July 26, 2024 at the age of 54.
Bob became a vocal advocate for ALS research awareness after his diagnosis in 2022.
ALS or Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, causing loss of muscle control.
All proceeds from this annual event will benefit The ALS Society of Windsor-Essex County, assisting persons living with ALS and their families while contributing to research that leads to a cure.
Join us on the paved trail at Tecumseh’s Lakewood Park South on Saturday, July 12 to remember and celebrate Bob Jones! Registration will be limited to 400 persons. The 5K route will be 3 full laps around the park’s paved outer trail. Runners and walkers will start at different times due to the narrow path.
In cooperation with the Windsor Spitfires, there will be a casual Meet & Greet with some local players TBA before the event. You must be registered for this event to participate in the Meet & Greet.
Post-race hospitality will be held on site after each event with the addition optional Adult Hospitality at Johnny Shotz (13037 Tecumseh Rd E, Tecumseh). Your registration fee of $50 allows you entry to this event. If you would like to attend and did not participate in the run/walk, admission is $50 with all proceeds also going to The ALS Society of Windsor-Essex County.
Please Note: parking is limited at Lakewood Park. Please plan to arrive early, consider carpooling with friends or parking on area side streets.
