Where: Wherever you are!
When: Saturday, October 4th, 2025
Classes Offered:
Canitrail: Designated canitrail rather than canicross due to a few technical passages on the route, this harness dog sport discipline combines cross country or trail racing with harness dog or sled dog sports. This activity involves both human and runner working together. The human drives the direction of the team, while their 4-legged partner assists by propelling them forward. Canitrail is an evolution of dogsledding and while typically a dryland sport, it can also be done on hard-packed snow. Canitrail is a 1-dog sport and is the perfect entry point for you and your dog into harness dog sports. Proper harness dog sport equipment is required.
3km Canitrail: This race distance is suitable for dogs 12 months and older.
Canitrail: This race distance is suitable for dogs 10 months and older.
5km Trail Race: No dog, no problem! Join us for a 5km trail race without your 4-legged best friend. This race will be a mass start.
1.6km Trail Race: This race distance is a MAHDS fundraiser with profits from this race class going to MAHDS. All youth under 12 years of age MUST be accompanied by an adult chaperone capable of keeping pace. This will be a Time Trial style race with participants racing in waves. Racers will be seeded according to pace groups indicated within registration.
Registration:
*In advance only.
*NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION*
**Deadline to register is Wednesday, October 1 at midnight**
Rules for Canitrail:
Because harness dog sports involve more than human athletes, our rules for participants incorporate more than the expected rules to ensure fair competition. These rules also address factors that can impact the health and safety of our canine and human teammates - things like the age of the dog for competition, sport-specific gear requirements for humans and dogs, trail rules (such as passing), and good sportsmanship.
All participants must review and adhere to the following documents prior to race day:
- MAHDS Rules for Participants
- MAHDS Code of Conduct
Both of these documents can be found on our website HERE.
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR ATHLETES: The MAHDS Code of Conduct must be adhered to by all athletes.
TEMPERATURE (Canitrail classes only): We will be applying MAHDS Temperature Guidelines for this event. These guidelines lay out exactly what you can expect in terms of the Event Organizer's response to temperature changes.
