RUNGANDA 2025

Welcome to the 8th Annual Runganda! We will have a 5K, 1 mile Fun Run, and Jerry Can Relay! Runganda brings together the community of St. Louis, MO to support a rural village in Kawete, Uganda. Runganda was inspired by students attending Christ Community Lutheran School-Uganda in Kawete, Uganda. Some of these students have to walk/run up to four miles one way to get to school. The addition of the Jerry Can Relay brings Ugandan culture to the U.S. The people of Kawete must bring their Jerry Cans every day to the well to fill them with water and carry them home in order to have water to drink, to cook with, do laundry, etc. If you are brave, get a team together for the Jerry Can Relay!
100% of proceeds supportChrist Community International's Kawete High School, an organization who’s focus is “Expressing God’s Love Through Service.” Christ Community International has been supporting this community since 2013 through educational, spiritual, and medical means. Our most recent adventure has been the construction of a high school for students in the community. Proceeds from this race will help Christ Community International continue to build a brighter future for these students!
The Jerry Can Relay will be up to a 4-person relay team. Each team will run/walk a total of a mile or 5K (their choice) with a Jerry can be provided by Christ Community International. The Jerry Can will be filled with 5 Gallons (42 lbs) of water. Time results end when the last person of each team crosses the finish line. Other members of the relay team can help each other during the relay for any duration. Each team will sign up for the race as a single entry but will be responsible for forming their own teams. The Jerry Can can be carried in any position desired but no straps or alternative methods/additions to the can will be permitted. All age athletes are welcome!

Friday, 11/7 - 3:15pm-6:00pm
Award Information
Awards will be given to the top 3 finishers in the following age groups: 18 & under, 19 to 34, 35 to 49, 50 & Over.
The top Jerry Can Relay Team will receive a decorated Ugandan Jerry Can as an award as well.
