Our story…
In 2021, after a year of not feeling well..bloating, nausea, pain with intercourse, loss of appetite, and irregular bowels, just to name a few. I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. During that time, I was told repeatedly that I didn’t look like I was in the amount of pain I described. I was brushed off, given medications I never took, and sent home. Finally, someone listened.
What followed were four surgeries in the span of just one year, every three months. Since December 2022, I’ve been grateful to say that I am NED (no evidence of disease).
Looking back, I wish I had the support of an organization like Sue’s Gift during that difficult journey. Today, I’m incredibly thankful to be connected with them. Too many people are ignored, misdiagnosed, or unheard—and far too many are no longer here with us because of it.
That’s why I walk, why I’ve created a team, and why I continue to fundraise and raise awareness. This year will be especially meaningful—it’s the first time I’ll be participating in the 5K/3K. My hope is that by sharing my story and taking these steps, others will be empowered to advocate for themselves, get answers sooner, and feel the support they deserve.
