Workshop Overview: Coaches will learn to analyse technical performance in Olympic weightlifting with the goal of preparing beginner athletes for local competitions. Instruction includes progressions for teaching Olympic lifts, corrective cues, and exercises to address technical errors.
Participants will also explore basic coaching strategies, athlete developmental stages, competition structure, and rules. The course culminates in managing an athlete through a simulated competition scenario.
Critical Performance Statement: Upon completion, coaches will be able to competently instruct and correct Olympic weightlifting techniques to develop competitive athletes.
Learning Outcomes:
- Instruction of Olympic weightlifting movements for beginners.
- Correction of technical performance appropriate to developmental stages.
- Application of basic biomechanical principles to Olympic weightlifting.
- Execution of competition lifts and related assistance exercises.
- Creation of a basic training plan.
- Management of an athlete in regional competition logistics.
- Application of general competition rules.
