My Story…
I’m Preston Bounds — a freshman at Sacramento Country Day and proud to be the team captain for this year’s Run to Feed the Hungry!
Even though Sacramento is known as America’s “Farm-to-Fork” capital, food insecurity is still a major issue in our county. Over 1 in 4 people live below 200% of the federal poverty level — that’s more than 448,000 of our neighbors in Sacramento at risk of hunger.
In fact, the food insecurity rate in Sacramento County is around 13%.
That’s why our participation in the run matters — but even more so, the donations we raise will help make a difference. Our local food bank, Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services, supports this community in big ways:
Every month, nearly 320,000 people rely on food from their network of over 200 distribution sites across the county. They partner with 111 agencies to ensure food access for children, adults, and seniors in need. And when you donate, you can help provide three meals for every dollar given.
This Thanksgiving season, I’d love your support — whether it’s a donation of $5, $50, or more — everything adds up to help families in our community who are facing difficult choices like food or utilities, clothing or medicine.
Thanks so much for standing with me and our Cavs team — together we can help our community and show what Cav spirit really means.
Donate to help Preston raise money for Run to Feed the Hungry’s fundraising campaign.
