Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the 2025 PB&J Run!
We’re thrilled to welcome you to our incredible crew of over 150 volunteers who help bring this fun-filled event to life. This year’s run takes place on Saturday, September 20 in beautiful downtown St. Pete, and we couldn’t do it without the energy, dedication, and heart of people like you.
Our volunteers are the PB&J Run’s secret sauce—they help check in runners, make thousands of peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, cheer on participants along the route, pass out water, distribute medals, and so much more. It’s an outdoor event, so all volunteer shifts take place outside. We'll do our best to provide shade, water, and breaks, but please only sign up if you’re comfortable being outside throughout the morning.
In return, volunteers receive breakfast, unlimited PB&Js, a commemorative t-shirt, and the unbeatable experience of being part of vibrant and exciting PB&J Run race day. You’ll have a front-row seat to all the action and be making a real impact—100% of proceeds from the PB&J Run support local children and families in need.
Ready to join the fun?
Please select your preferred volunteer shift below and complete the registration form. Once submitted, you’ll be officially signed up! If anything changes after registering, just send us an email at team@pbjrun.com so we can update your information. About two weeks before the event, we’ll be in touch with everything you need to know—where to park, what to bring, what to wear, and what to expect.
We can’t wait to jam with you!
Volunteer Shifts
Prices are inclusive of mandatory charges, items, and fees
Volunteer Setup and Parking | 4:30am - 8:30am Spots remaining: 1
Before most of our volunteers arrive to park and check-in for their shifts, we need a few early birds to come ahead of those crowds to help our volunteers check-in and assist with parking, as it is still dark when the bulk of volunteers arrive. Assignments include: setting out volunteer breakfast, t-shirts-and assignment sheets, welcoming volunteers as they arrive, and using LED parking wands to direct cars into the designated volunteer parking lot as they arrive. This is a hard-to-fill but important time slot which is key to the success of this event – we are especially grateful for the handful of helpers willing to jump in to this, our earliest shift! This shift would be best for: Anyone who is not deterred by an early alarm clock, who is punctual, and who is positive early in the morning!
Check-in & Registration | 5am - 9am Sold out
PB&J Sandwich Tents | 6am - 10am Spots remaining: 36
Volunteers in this area are in charge of the event’s namesake: the stacks of fresh PB&Js the runners will grab as they complete the race! Assignments include: assembling fresh peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, organizing and inventory of materials throughout the morning, and making made-to-order sandwiches as runners request them. This shift would be best for: Anyone who is happiest behind-the-scenes, with minimal guest interaction, and those who like the rhythm of seated, stationary, assembly-line type tasks.
Park Support | 6am - 10am Spots remaining: 18
Volunteers in this area stay at the PB&J Run “home base” of Albert Whitted park to keep things running smoothly all morning. Assignments include: replenishing water/food/ice/toilet paper as needed, running the bag check station, directing traffic, passing out award certificates, distributing medals at the finish line, and filling in volunteer gaps as they arise. This shift would be best for: Anyone willing to exert physical effort, who likes to keep moving and jump around to different tasks instead of staying put at a designated station.
Water Stations | 6am - 10am Spots remaining: 33
Volunteers in this area will head out onto the race course to monitor and run our aid and hydration stations. Assignments include: filling and distributing water/electrolyte cups to runners on the course, cheering them on, providing directional information, and helping clean up used cups with provided trashcans. This shift would be best for: Anyone who wants to see the race in action, is able to cheer loudly, and can keep up with the rush of runners as they come through.
Clean-Up | 10am - 12pm Spots remaining: 14
Volunteers in this area help us break down the event, ensuring we leave the park cleaner than we found it and that all materials are packed up in an orderly fashion, organized well for our next event. Assignments include: breaking down booths, rolling up flags and signage, taking inventory of remaining materials, loading up cases of water and boxes of event materials into a u-haul truck, and then traveling (appx 30 minute drive) behind the u-haul in your own vehicle to assist with unloading at two additional locations (first stop is donating remaining food and supplies to a local school, and second stop is unloading final materials back at our offices). This shift would be best for: Anyone willing to exert physical effort and who has their own vehicle and is willing to drive to two additional stops for unloading.
