Safety First:
Event is run in accordance with the Police permit and all instruction must be followed! Please be a cooperative group and help the safety and future of the event by following these safety requirements:
It is a requirement of entry that all competitors must wear light coloured clothing, preferably hi visibility. This will be enforced throughout the event.
Rules of the road apply and must be obeyed. The course is open to general traffic. Always run on right side of the road and follow directions of Marshals and Traffic Management. You may be required to stop to allow traffic to pass. Safety is the number one priority and not our race times.
Vehicles must display hazard blinkers and show a caution sign if possible.
Support crews are not to travel alongside runners, they must drive ahead and wait for their runners at the 2km changeover points.
Runners are not run side by side. Only to pass or be passed.
Keep roadside doors closed at changeover locations.
Do not congregate on the road surface or roadside of vehicles at changeover points.
Earpods other musical playing devices are not permitted to be worn whilst running as they compromise safety of competitors and other road users.
RELAY TEAM GUIDELINES:
Social or serious relay teams are welcome to participate. Each relay leg is approximately 2 km with a roadside marker indicating changeovers. Runners may run in any order, one running per team leg. Runners may run back-to-back legs if the team chooses or multiples of 2km legs. When a changeover takes place, it must take place on the right-hand side of the road, and at designated areas indicated by the changeover markers. (This is an important race requirement for safety reasons). Relay Changeovers Markers are placed as near as practical to every 2 km however safe pull over areas determines their placement. Relay changes must take place on right hand side of road beside 2km markers only.
DIRECTIONS TO THE START:
From the Ferry Terminal, please turn left onto Missionary Road towards Barnes Bay and not the Bruny Island main road. This will reduce traffic congestion for the runners who are using the main road creating safer running conditions for all competitors. This will only add 5 minutes to your travelling time. Signs will direct vehicles to the start using this alternative route.
Travelling from South Bruny to the start continue past North Bruny junction towards ferry and turn right into Missionary Road.
Post Event Function and Presentations:
Following the event, please join us in the beer garden at the Bruny Island Hotel Alonnah for light refreshments, available for competitors and supporters. Presentations from 2.30 pm for the Marathon event and 3:15 pm for the Ultra Event.
