Come to the famous Chile Capitol of the World... Hatch, New Mexico and help us kick off the 2025 Chile Festival by running the newest 5k in southern New México, The CHILE FESTIVAL 5K RUN!!!!
Run in front of thousands of onlookers as our race will proceed the 53rd Annual Chile Festival Parade,
- Low entry fee of just $25 for inaugural year (no giveaways, but Official Chile Festival shirts will be available for purchase at check in and after)
- Kids 1k fun run starts at 7:40am
- 5K Race starts at 8:00am:Start at in Hatch Public Schools' parking lot then runs along the parade route
- After the run, stay and enjoy the 53rd Annual Chile Festival with a sampling some of the finest Chile, while you enjoy food, crafts, an auction, live music and more.
- The parade starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30.
- Music will start at 11 a.m. both days on the Main Stage.
About Hatch Chile Festival
2025 marks the 53rd Hatch Chile Festival!
The Hatch Chile Festival began in 1971 as a modest gathering of local farmers celebrating the annual chile harvest in Hatch, New Mexico. Over the decades, it has blossomed into a vibrant event attracting over 30,000 visitors each year, all eager to experience the unique flavors and cultural heritage of Hatch chiles. Held annually on Labor Day weekend, the festival stands as a testament to the enduring spirit and agricultural traditions of the Hatch Valley.
What makes Hatch Chile Special?
Hatch green chile refers to a type of chile pepper grown exclusively in the Hatch Valley of New Mexico. The unique soil and climate of the area create a distinctive flavor profile, often described as earthy, smoky, and slightly sweet, with a heat level ranging from mild to hot. Hatch green chiles are harvested before they ripen to red, showcasing a vibrant green color.
Hatch green chiles are named after the town of Hatch, New Mexico, and the surrounding Hatch Valley, where they are grown. The unique growing conditions in the Hatch Valley, including nutrient-rich soil and fluctuating temperatures, contribute to the chiles' distinct flavor. They are known for their earthy, smoky, and slightly sweet taste. Hatch green chiles come in various heat levels, from mild to extra hot, allowing for a wide range of culinary applications.Hatch green chiles are harvested before they fully ripen, resulting in a vibrant green color and a distinctive flavor. They are a versatile ingredient used in various dishes, including salsas, stews, sauces, and as a topping for burgers and eggs. The regular season for Hatch green chiles is typically August through September, though it can start as early as mid-July depending on the weather.

How To Properly Wear a Race Bib
All participants will be assigned a bib number.
For us to properly time your race, our staff and video camera (if available) needs to be able to read your bib number as you cross the finish line.
- Race bibs must be worn on the outside of your clothing on the front of your jersey/shirt (as shown in the picture to the right).
- Please do not, crimple or fold the bib.
- If you do not wear the bib as requested, your finish may not be read properly, and no time will be recorded in the results.
- You may keep your bib following the race. It does not need to be returned.

Refunds / Transfer Policy / Disqualifying
NO Refund on race entry fees. Race management does allow for race fees to be transfer to other race events or participant if available.
We strongly suggest you purchase the race insurance during the registration in case you are unable to attend the race or race is cancelled. You can only purchase the insurance during registration!
Disqualifying participants for using other someone else Bib. Any participant who runs under someone else’s bib will be disqualified and will not be scored. For the safety of our runners, and in case of a medical emergency, it is imperative that the registration data associated with the race number belongs to the person wearing the bib. If race organizers become aware that a runner has participated in one of our events with a bib that is not registered to that runner, both the runner and the person to whom the bib is registered will be prohibited from participating in subsequent events for a minimum of two years. To properly transfer bib, contact timing staff before race time so they may validate new runner's contact info.
