Our story…

Let’s come together for Flora and all babies gone too soon. 🦋

On May 17, 2025, our daughter, Flora, was stillborn at 24 weeks 4 days. We are devastated that we will never get to bring her home, watch her grow, and fill her life with love.

A few days before her birth, we went to the hospital for a reassurance check after noticing a lack of movement. Two dopplers and two ultrasounds later, our worst fear was confirmed - our baby no longer had a heartbeat. This came as a complete shock as everything had been normal up to that point. Flora’s stillbirth remains unexplained.

Before Flora, we also experienced two first-trimester miscarriages. Getting pregnant, staying pregnant, and bringing home a healthy baby is not easy and is truly a gift.

In Canada, 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage, and over 3,000 babies are stillborn each year. Pregnancy and baby loss affects more people than we realize, yet we rarely talk about these realities. We are sharing our story to do our part to break the silence, raise awareness and help other families feel less alone.

The Butterfly Run raises awareness and support for pregnancy loss, infant loss, pregnancy after loss, and infertility in Ottawa and surrounding areas.

All proceeds go to Roger Neilson Children’s Hospice (RNCH), which provides specialized pediatric palliative care and compassionate grief support for children, youth, and families facing unimaginable loss.
