Ned's Wish is excited to welcome you to our fifth annual Heroes Run on October 4, 2025! This unique, dog-friendly fundraising event will honour the courageous sacrifice of RCMP Police Dog Hrain, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty while serving alongside Corporal Pete Gardner in Baltimore, New Brunswick on July 22, 2006. Participants and their canine companions are invited to commemorate Hrain's bravery by running or walking a 5km distance, celebrating his unwavering dedication to service and his handler.
All proceeds from Heroes Run will support retired police and military service dogs across Canada, ensuring these loyal heroes receive the care and quality of life they deserve in their retirement. Participants have the following registration options for 2025:
OCTOBER 4 (In Person)
- Ace's K-9 Care - 5877 Leslie Road, Prince George, BC - hosted by Ace's K-9 Care the event will feature a 5km race course as well as a pet fair featuring pet related vendor booths and food trucks. Keep an eye out for their Facebook event page for important race day details. Registration available with or without swag;
- Hosted by York Regional Police at Simeon Park – 13190 Woodbine Avenue, Gormley, ON - This event will feature a 5km race course. Registration is available with or without swag;
- NOS K9 Narcotics Detection Services - Yellowknife Legislative Building - 4517 48th Street, Yellowknife, NT - This event will feature a 5km race course. Come meet retired hero, Kola. Registration is available with or without swag.
OCTOBER 11 (In Person)
- Canine Heroes Kennel - 10046 Grey Road, Coldstream, BC - hosted by Canine Heroes Kennel. The event will feature a 5km race course. Check out their Facebook event page for important race day details. Registration is available with or without swag. *NOTE* taking place October 11, unlike the other in-person events.
VIRTUAL
- Virtual Event - Hosted by you wherever you are! Choose a swag bag registration or go swag free, the choice is yours. We encourage you to join us on socials for race day so we can bring the Ned's Wish community together nationwide!
2025 swag includes an exclusive t-shirt designed by Ness Horning of Seventh Siren tattoo, and a limited-edition PSD Hrain memorial challenge coin. We have limited quantities of each, so register early to secure yours! As always, you get your own fundraising link with your registration. Those raising $1000 or more will receive a special Ned's Wish hat as an additional thank you, and will in competition for a highest fundraiser prize!
Individual registration with swag is $90.00, while registration without swag is $50.00 (plus applicable race roster and shipping fees).
Teams are encouraged -- challenge friends or colleagues to race or fundraise together! Remember, this event is inclusive and fun-focused: complete the 5km at your own pace, walking, running, or as a team effort. Leashed dogs are warmly welcomed at our in person events!
