A trail race for a great cause! The Salomon Bay 50/50 is proudly supporting the St. Margaret's Bay Food Bank once again!
Non-perishable food items will be part of registering, so let's get together and help out those in need while doing what we love...trail running!
$10 from every registration fee will be donated to the local food bank! https://www.facebook.com/smbfoodbank/ ...plus you'll be required to bring along 4 non-perishable food items to race check-in as part of your registration :)
The distance options...16k, 50k and 82k.
You'll have a great mix of everything: rail trail, sweet singletrack, a few ATV trails, and gravel roads.
Elevation gain/loss for the 16k = ~430m
Elevation gain/loss for the 50k = ~1500m
Elevation gain/loss for the 82k = ~2400m
Sunrise: ~7:35am//Sunset: ~6:26pm
note: the elevation profile is showing the first 25k outbound.
Mandatory gear:
1 charged up cell phone (with RD's phone number)
1 waterproof jacket
1 first aid kit (gauze pads or similar, band aids, duct tape or medical tape (3+ft), and an emergency blanket)
1 buff or toque
1L water bladder or 2 bottles/flasks, etc.
Drink and food for the loop.
Headlamp?! :)
**Random gear checks will be done on course. If you're missing gear, we can't allow you to continue**
Aid stations: we will have 3 aid stations on course. They will be at 8k, 16k (water and Tailwind only here) and at 25k.
No pacers and no crew access. Crew is only allowed to help out their runner at the start/finish area.
Volunteers: if you're free for a few hours on race weekend and interested in helping out, please sign up here on Race Roster! Thanks!
The fine print:
*If you can't make it, you can sell your spot.
*We can also defer your entry if you can volunteer for a 6+hr shift.
*No refunds though and no dogs allowed on course.
*No cups at the aid stations as usual, so bring your own drinking do-hickey!
