"Waitlist Info"
We have created a Google Sheet for those looking to purchase or sell a spot located HERE. Please add your name and contact info (if you want); those looking to sell spots can reach out directly. Please remove your name from this list if you get your hands on a spot. We will not be policing this, people who have purchased a spot own that spot and can do as they like. If you are having issues using the sheet, please let us know and we will add your info.
Welcome to the 3rd edition of The Pick & Shovel Showdown at the McDonald Sports Park in Waverley, Nova Scotia. With over 73,000 ounces of gold taken from the nearby claims you might just want to bring some tools with you and try your luck!
This race features a one-of-its-kind format for these parts. Our goal is to encourage people to start off running and continue as long as they can or want to for up to 8 hours. You can run each lap at your own pace, there's no time limit per lap.
There is a slight change for this year. Due to demand for the 8-hour event, we will not be offering a 10km only competition. Every 8-hour competitor will line up for a 10km (2-Lap) race starting at 12pm. When competitors finish the first 10km they will continue going out on 6ish km laps, at their own pace, until 7:30pm which is the cutoff to start a lap. Your last lap must be finished by 8pm for it to count toward your total. In the event of a tie for most laps, the person with the fastest 10km time will go home the victor.
The course is very runnable with great footing when it's not buried in snow. The area is highly trafficked so even in the event of a snowy January it should be packed down. Please be prepared for the winter conditions and ready to run in whatever Mother Nature brings us.
We have the Cheema Canoe Club booked which will be the start/finish and warmup area for racers in between laps. We will be offering both hot and cold food/beverages to all participants. Please note this race will happen Rain/Sleet/Snow with the exception of a city-wide shutdown.
There will be Prizing for both the Podium finishers, fast Over 50 competitors (male and female) plus a bunch of door prizes up for grabs.
In addition to the podium prizes, we're offering a $250 gift card for new divisional course records. The current course record for both the male and female divisions is 14 laps (82.4km total). This means you'll have to run a minimum of 15 laps (88.4km) with the fastest 10K time in your division to cash in this offer. We know some people can do it, come show us how it's done and take our money! The gift card will be for the victor's choice of Aerobics First, Sportwheels, or 3Mile Outfitters.
We hope you can join us for a fun and memorable day of winter fun!
Please note the cutoff to order all merchandise is December 13th @5pm.
***The Fine Print - There will be no refunds on this event but you can transfer your registration to another person up to January 16th @ noon directly though Race Roster for $1.95 + processing fee.
We will send an email out to all participants prior to the race with more details. You can also follow us @allouttrailracing on Instagram for the latest updates.
