Here are FYI’s for Turkey Toss 4 miler on Sunday, February 16th
-The race is held at Hawthorne Park 500 Ackerman Drive, Porter, IN 46304. Online sign-ups close on Thursday, February 13th at 10:00 am. Do not fear there will be race day sign ups beginning at 8:15 am. Race Day sign-up fees will be $35 cash or check or Venmo
-Course link: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/38427073 It is a 2 mile out and back route
-Weather: It will be cold so please dress accordingly and once you complete the race please head into the community center to warm up.
-All runners will receive a turkey hat
-Race start is at 9 am Central Time (please note for those coming from Eastern Time Zone)
-Course will be on pavement and bike trail. The route will be marked with flags and arrow signs at major turns.
-Old school timing for this race. You will receive a popsicle stick with a number on it when you finish. Please turn that stick into the person at the community center ASAP. No formal award ceremony if you win overall male/female and top 3 in your age group you will receive medals after you turn your stick in.
-Packet pick-up, race day sign-ups, food and bathrooms are in the community center. Water, snacks, coffee, and Gatorade will be provided after the race.
-I will be selling my old Crazy Legs Race Series t-shirts and other items for $5 for the proceeds will go to Porter Parks Department.
-This race will feature "Turkey Bowling" using this 4-pound frozen turkey. Six lucky raffle winners will get a chance to bowl to win prizes. One raffle ticket will be in your goodie bag and extra tickets can be purchased for $1. You have two shots to knock down all the plastic bowling pins. If you obtain a strike or spare you win. We will pull five lucky winners to bowl after everyone completes the race. We will do the “Turkey Bowling” inside the community center.
