My Story…
Everyday, the students at KGMS make my job a dream job. I've had the privilege of working with truly remarkable students and their families. At KGMS, I've witness the transformation that happens when students find a learning environment that understands and celebrates them. I often say that it is truly magical watching students who have had a tough time in other schools arrive at KGMS. As they grow in self-confidence and understanding, they come to see that the way their brain works isn't a challenge to overcome, it is their greatest strength.
On May 4th, I'll be running the BMO Half Marathon to raise money for the KGMS bursary fund. This fund helps to make our school assessable to families, ensuring that more students can experience the individualized support that they deserve.
I'm running for my students, who inspire me every single day, for their families, and the many kids out there still searching for a school that feels like home. When I hit the toughest stretch of the race (the Stanley Park section seems to never ever end!), I'll be thinking of the strength and resilience our students show everyday!
Description
I am running in the BMO RUN4HOPE to support children with learning differences such as autism, anxiety, ADHD and dyslexia!
Kenneth Gordon Maplewood School is proud to announce its enthusiastic participation in the BMO RUN4HOPE event, a charitable run aimed at making a positive impact in the community. This year, our school community is running with a purpose - to raise funds in support of children with learning differences. We believe in the power of education and inclusivity, and by joining this event, we aim to create a brighter future for children who face unique learning challenges. Together, we are not only running for a healthier lifestyle but also running to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Join us in our journey to empower these young minds and provide them with the opportunities they deserve. Together, we can make a real change.
By supporting my run, you are:
- Supporting a healthier family life: KGMS assists and eases the heartache and stress that school struggles bring home. We provide in-school OG tutoring and the support and guidance that many families must seek outside of a traditional school environment.
- Supporting the value of education, inclusion and fairness: your donation will provide equitable access for children who learn differently. By donating, you help us continue to provide a safe and comfortable learning environment for our K-12 students.
- Honouring the KGMS teachers, tutors, counsellors and support staff who have made a difference in a child's life, and for the essential work they do every day. You are helping a child understand that they are capable and deserving of a bright future.
Thank you for your donation!
