My Story…
Most people I know are aware that I am a metastatic breast cancer thriver/survivor. I was diagnosed in 2004 with Triple Negative Breast Cancer - did my standard treatments (lumpectomy, chemo and radiation). Resumed my active life of wife, mom, volunteer extraordinaire, etc. 3 years later, my life changed a lot! October 2007 brought a metastatic diagnosis when a shadow in my lung was found to be breast cancer. It was also in chest wall lymph nodes. Because of a medication (Avastin) my oncologist wanted to use, I had a baseline brain MRI. Thankfully, a brain tumor was also found. Brain surgery/biopsy confirmed breast cancer in my brain. Weekly chemo for 11 months with Avastin included on weeks 1 and 3, then another 18 months of Avastin left me No Evidence of Disease (NED).
Here I am 17 years later, again living a very full life as wife, mom, Mimi, worker, and still volunteer extraordinaire.
I have been volunteering for 412Thrive for about 1.5 years. The services they provide are awesome. Join me in raising some funds to help further their ability to help more local women!
