I Run to Cure CF!
Cystic Fibtosis isnt just a cause I support, it is part of my life. Living everyday with CF means facing challenges every single day, but if you know me that has never stoped me from pushing forward. Right now I am training for my FIRST half marathon here in May, which is just one week before I graduate college! Training was going so well before Christmas and a simple procedure caused me to get super sick and have a collapsed lung. Since then I seem to conttiually get sick which has made training harder. I refuse to let CF define my limits though and I am training and running through sickness and PICC lines. Running is more than just a physical challenge for me, it is a way for me to provethat I am stronger than CF.
On top of training for the marathon, in fall I finished playing four years of college soccer which is something that also seems impossible for someone with CF. Soccer has taught me how to push through adversity and now as I am training for the half marathon I am keeping that in my mindset. I run for myself, for everyone fighting CF, those who left us way too soon, and for the future where no one has to face this disease without a cure. The CF Foundation has made amazing strides in research, treatments, and hope and I want to be apart of that progress.
Every step and breath I take training and on race day is another step closer towards a cure where CF will not stand for Cystic Fibrosis but instead Cure Found. This journey has been tough but so am I and I am ready for whatever comes my way!
Description
Cystic fibrosis is a rare, genetic disease found in about 40,000 people in the U.S. causing persistent lung infections and limiting the ability to breath over time. Those living with this disease are moms, dads, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends, and co-workers --all struggling each day just to breathe and live normal, healthy lives.
While there has been significant progress in treating this disease, there is still no cure and too many lives are cut far too short. By participating in the Pittsburgh Marathon on behalf of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, I run to help add tomorrows to the lives of all people living with cystic fibrosis today. Please make a difference and support me by donating to my fundraising campaign today!
