Help Victoria raise money

Hi! I have chose to run my second half marathon and raise money for the Greater PA Alzheimer’s Association.

I was blessed to have both of my great grandparents for 15 years. I spent many Saturdays with them, begging my nana to make me grilled cheese while my pap and I played Chutes and Ladders. I would giggle as my pap constantly would try to go up the chutes. This, however, wasn’t just a ploy to make me laugh; this was the beginning of his battle with Alzheimer’s.  Over the course of several years, his mental and physical health would deteriorate. He would begin to switch between English, German, and French. He would forget names, but not my nana’s. She was with him to the very end. 

After losing my pap, Nana began to forget names, her mood would swing, and her sharp tongue softened. The woman who I played monopoly with for hours (we would stay up till Midnight some nights) started to disappear. The nana who marked my height on the wall each time I visited started to forget my name. Only three years after her husband, my nana passed away. I have her to thank for so many little parts of the woman I am today and the woman I hope to be.

I am running this race in honor of them and to help others keep their own nana and paps for longer. Any donation, big or small, is so greatly appreciated.
