My Story…
"Open Field" is a nonprofit organization that uses soccer to promote youth leadership, life skills, and community development. Participants use sports as a vehicle for personal growth, education, and excellence.
"Marathons" are activities where you pay money to run farther than is healthy, promoting musculoskeletal injury and an insufferable sense of entitlement. Participants sometimes poop their pants.
A few years ago, Ali participated in a soccer tournament to raise money for Open Field. It was a truly rewarding experience for a deserving organization.
A few years ago, Karl ran his first marathon. He still won't shut up about it.
Now for the important part: Open Field is an official fundraising partner of the 2025 Pittsburgh Marathon.
That means your wildest dreams have finally come true: your very own money can contribute to Ali's benevolence (and Karl's suffering) as they run the 2025 Pittsburgh Marathon for Open Field.
It's simple: pitch in whatever you want, and we'll give you a shoutout on raceday, plus send you a personalized thank-you afterward. All donations go directly to Open Field: learn more about their mission here.

Open Field's mission is to improve the lives and futures of youth through sport. Open Field connects with youth, primarily immigrants and refugees, in low resource neighborhoods in Allegheny County to improve health, support education, empower girls, build leadership skills, and promote peace through the global game of soccer.
