My Story…
-There are 3 major reasons I personally believe in the mission of Urban Impact.
-To start off when I was a high school student in 1993 growing up on the Northside Urban Impact was a safe place for me and my friends to connect with each other and play basketball without having to worry about the gang violence that was happening on the streets in those days. In the gym we experienced a loving atmosphere created by devoted, Jesus-following adults that reminded all of us that we were not a mistake. God loves us and He has a plan for our life.
-Second, I believe in the mission of Urban Impact because when I finished college, I started to work for an organization call The Pittsburgh Project and my primary responsibility there at the time was to disciple 12 to 15 young men that played basketball. Urban Impact’s basketball leagues opened weekly opportunities for me and my coaches to make godly investments in the lives of those young men that stepped into our gym for 12 years.
-Lastly, I believe in the mission because it is now how my wife and I fulfill our part of the great commission. Urban Impact’s core DNA is to “Make Disciples that Make Disciples” by “Changing lives one Person, one Family, one Block at a time.” For last 13 years as a Urban Missionary with the organization I have been using music as a tool to share Jesus with students and their families.
