My Story…
Although I've run the Pittsburgh Half & Marathon many times before, this year I wanted to Run for a Reason. So in 2025, I'm lacing up to support The Izzie Fund, an organization with a mission that's very close to my heart.
As many of you know, on Christmas Day 2023, our sweet pup Pierogi underwent emergency surgery. Unfortunately, the outcome wasn't what we hoped and we had to say goodbye to her a few days later. The experience still weighs heavily on us but in the days afterward, we reflected on how fortunate we felt to be able to say "yes" to the treatment that was recommended to give our best girl her best shot.
The Izzie Fund is a local organization that helps dog owners make the best medical decisions for their pups without the worry of the financial burden by providing financial support. Its mission is an important one and if you agree and can contribute, please do!
Description
The Izabela Dior Bouvier Foundation (operating as The Izzie Fund) is an all-volunteer based nonprofit that provides financial assistance to responsible dog owners who cannot afford the cost of specialized veterinary care.
The Izzie Fund’s goals are simple:
- Provide life-changing care to dogs in need
- Assist financially-challenged pet owners
- Alleviate the burden on local animal shelters
To date, The Izzie Fund has granted over $30,000 to Pittsburgh dogs in need.
