Our story…
Pacing for a Purpose: Running the Pittsburgh Marathon for a Cause
At Baird, we believe in pushing limits whether it’s helping our clients navigate their financial futures or stepping up to make a difference in our community. That’s why our team is taking on the Pittsburgh Marathon Relay, running not just for the challenge, but for a greater purpose: to support the Mario Lemieux Foundation and its mission to fund cancer research and patient care.
Cancer affects us all. Whether it’s a family member, friend, or colleague, we’ve all witnessed its impact. The Mario Lemieux Foundation is leading the fight, especially for children battling pediatric cancer, by funding groundbreaking research and providing critical support for young patients and their families. Their mission is built on resilience, hope, and perseverance - the same principles that drive us in our work and in this race.
But success - whether in a race or in life - is never a solo effort. It takes a team! 26.2 miles is a long way to go alone, just like navigating financial planning and life’s biggest decisions. This isn’t a solo race – our team is in it together, each playing a vital role in pacing and supporting one another. As one teammate takes on the full marathon, the rest of us will be running alongside him at the different legs, pushing, motivating, and ensuring he keeps moving forward – just as we do for our clients. Because in running, in finance, and in life, it’s not about how fast you go – it’s about how far you go, together.
We are honored to run for this cause, to give back to our community, and to use our platform to make a meaningful impact. We invite you to join us - whether by cheering us on, spreading the word, or making a donation to support this incredible foundation. And to maximize that impact, our team will be matching up to $5,000 in donations dollar for dollar – meaning your generosity goes twice as far in supporting this incredible foundation.
Let’s go the distance - together.
Description
Please donate to help us raise money for the Mario Lemieux Foundation as part of the 2025 DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon Run for a Reason program!
Since their founding in 1993, the Mario Lemieux Foundation has been focused on finding a cure for cancer by funding research and patient care, and supporting families in challenging medical situations. Through ongoing projects at the Mario Lemieux Center for Blood Cancers, the Mario Lemieux Lymphoma Center, the Mario Lemieux Immunotherapy Center, and the recently established Mario Lemieux Center for Heart Rhythm Care, we support research that translates to clinical trails and innovative therapies that save lives.
