Join Women in Leadership of Central Illinois for
Race to EmpowHER 5K Run or 1 Mile Walk
WIL is so excited to host our 4th run/walk event to support scholarships for local women in our Greater Peoria! Absolutely everyone is welcome and encouraged to run or walk with the crew! The event is rain or shine with no refunds. If there is an extreme case, please reach out to the race director.
You can go hard for bragging rights as the Top Female/Top Male or 1st place in your age bracket. You can also just have fun and meet new people. Your event your way! We will have a special award for Top Female/Top Male, and we anticipate a sweet surprise for top age bracket winners.
Medals at the finish line are prioritized for those who register first. On-site registration will be allowed with no guarantee for medal, product, or event bag. The 5K event is chip timed. We kindly request that you come early for on-site registration to ensure the event can start promptly at 8:00 a.m. Side note, we sadly cannot have four legged race event participants.
Please see our website for more information about how to qualify and apply for the annual scholarship(s)!

Scholarship
Women in Leadership of Central Illinois (WILCI) Scholarship History
The Scholarship Fund was established in 2006 as a non-endowed fund targeted at assisting women in the Tri-County area who are pursuing college/university, post graduate, or accreditation/certification for business management/professional or entrepreneurial education. The award is intended to defer tuition, fees, books, and other academic expenses.
WILCI members, visitors, and others have supported and funded the Scholarship Fund through various programs and events. WILCI meets monthly to celebrate, connect and network with other women who are seeking opportunities for personal and professional growth. At those luncheons, members have fun ways to raise those dollars including a birthday auction and Toot Your Horn. Also, some of the proceeds from the annual Pathways to Success Conference that WILCI co-hosts support the Scholarship Fund.
Due to the ongoing dedication of the WIL Board of Directors and members, the WILCI Scholarship Fund became an endowed fund in 2015. As an endowed fund, the WILCI Scholarship Fund will be able to continue to help women in the community indefinitely. In addition, with continuous focus on “feeding the fund” over time with proceeds from these initiatives and others to come, WIL plans to increase the fund’s impact by eventually being able to award annual $1500 or higher scholarships to two, three, or more women each year.
WIL expands its reach again this year through this annual 5K Run/1 Mile Walk - EmpowHER! Absolutely everyone is welcome, and we are so thankful for all of your support to extent opportunities to non-traditional women in our community! Race on!
