Hi |*FIRST_NAME*|,
There are a few tweaks and changes ahead, some of our choice and some that are being put in front of us, so read on to get the scoop.
BIBS + TIMING CHIPS + TRACKERS
You will get two bibs at check-in. We know that there is a high likelihood that at least one will get wrecked on your travels, so maybe keep the second one handy, either in a drop bag, or with your support crew.
We also provide Garmin inReach for you to use. During the race, we will publish a live map where your fans can watch you move through the course. We will have Zone 4 timing throughout the race so that you can get your splits, as well as a really accurate finish time.
We do not issue a battery charger for your Garmin at check-in, but you will be able to grab one at specific checkpoints. You can also bring your own.
COURSE CHANGES
We are not planning any course changes per se, but there is some new logging activity in the area that will make us divert the route in at least one location. It will not be a major change, if it does happen. Typically, if a trail is designated and has a manager, logging companies can still log around it and disturb the tread, but they have to replace it after the fact. We're just in that period where the work is still happening. We do have a very good relationship with the different logging companies operating in the area, so we expect updates soon. We will let everyone know ASAP once we know if there is anything to consider.
CUTOFF TIMES
Our cutoff times are pretty solid, but we have had one niggling issue: CP3. La Coulotte Ridge and then Whistler Mountain are known to be two of the toughest sections of a race anywhere. The last two years, we have extended the cutoff at CP3 during the race, so we are just going to make it official.
The cutoff time at CP3 will now be 6:30am on Saturday, which is 22.5 hours into the race. Some of you might think, "22.5 hours for about 65km is more than enough", but you will be surprised. This means you have to leave the CP by this time, not arrive. That gives you 6.5 hours to get to CP4, rest up, and get back on the trail before the next cutoff.
DROP BAGS
We are making a big update to how we manage drop bags. For those who raced before, you know that we moved bags all over the place for you, but in talking with the team, this has just become far too difficult. Last year we had three full-time people doing nothing but moving bags between four checkpoints! It might seem simple, but the area in the north is very remote with not so great roads, so each move took over an hour or more.
You will still have seven drop bag locations, but the bags will not move as much. You can see the plan in detail here: https://www.sinistersports.ca/divide200/support.
There are up to four sets of bags/bins:
- SOUTH bag starts at CP3, and is moved to CP4, then CP13
- YORK bag goes to CP6/CP10 and stays there
- RACEHORSE bag goes to CP7 and stays there
- CHINOOK bag goes to CP9 and stays there
We know it can be tough to figure out how to spread out your gear between these locations, so consider just picking a couple where you figure you will need something specific, like new shoes.
We are also going to give y'all four 40L dry bags as swag, so you can use those in a pinch. There will be four colours so that you can tell them apart easily.
Each location has it's own tag that you will put on the bag when you drop it at check-in.
PACERS
You can have up to four pacers, and their start/stop locations are on the Support page of the website (link already posted above). Please try and get them signed up online before the race. https://raceroster.com/events/2025/89980/the-divide-200
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
It takes a lot of volunteers to make this race a great experience, so make sure to volun-tell everyone you know to sign up! Volunteers get great swag, a fun experience, and dinner with the runners at the pre- and post-race celebrations. https://www.sinistersports.ca/divide200/volunteer
Kindest regards,
Brian Gallant
