DeSoto Cares Homeless Services, Inc.

DeSoto Cares Homeless Services is a non-profit organization committed to addressing the basic needs of the homeless population in DeSoto County, Florida. Our service center, located in Arcadia, offers showers, laundry, mailboxes, internet connection, case management, and referral services to those in need. Our mission is to transition individuals out of homelessness and address the systemic causes of homelessness in our community.

DeSoto County is home to approximately 35,000 people, with a poverty rate of 30% and an uninsured rate of 30%. The county's only city, Arcadia, has a population of about 6,600, and DeSoto County Schools identify close to 400 homeless students each year. DeSoto Cares Homeless Services was established as a volunteer program under the Arcadia Housing Authority Foundation, and became a 501c3 organization in 2016.
