Experience the Flattest, Fastest, and Most Scenic Race Course!

Join us for the Windsor Waterfront Half Marathon & 5K, a premier event designed to showcase Windsor as a top destination for big city races. This out-and-back, timed, and certified course offers an energy-filled, runner’s dream experience.

Race Overview

  • Start Location: In front of Caesars Windsor casino and hotel.
  • Scenic Views: The Detroit skyline will be visible to your left as you begin.
  • Route Highlights:
    • Run along beautiful Riverside Drive, fully closed off for the event.
    • Pass by Windsor's pristine waterfront parks.
    • Enjoy views of the famous Hiram Walker distillery, home to Canadian Club Whisky, JP Wiser’s, and Polar Ice Vodka.
    • Experience high-energy turn-around points filled with spectators, music, and cheer.

Pre-Race

  • Race Packet: Each participant will receive a custom Windsor Waterfront T-shirt in their race packet with other sponsored goodies!

Course Details

  1. Start Line: Runners will start with the Detroit skyline on their left, heading east along Riverside Drive.
  2. First Turn-Around: Pass under the Hiram Walker distillery, reach the first turn-around point filled with spectators and music, then head back west.
  3. Spectator Boost: Pass the start line again, receiving a boost from cheering crowds and lively music.
  4. Westward Route: Continue west with the Windsor waterfront and Detroit skyline as your backdrop.
  5. Ambassador Bridge: Run underneath the Ambassador Bridge into historic Sandwich town.
  6. Second Turn-Around: Make another turn at a music-filled archway with cheering spectators and head back east.
  7. Runner Interaction: See fellow runners on the opposite side of the road, high-fiving and cheering each other on.
  8. Final Stretch: Runners will finish off heading West, veering right towards the waterfront into a nice downhill that leads to the finish line and festival plaza entrance.

Post-Race Celebration

  • Finish Line: Receive a custom 4” medal as you cross the finish line.
  • Refreshments: Enjoy food and refreshments at Festival Plaza while awaiting the awards ceremony. Food trucks will be also be onsite!

WWHM Half Marathon Training Program

Welcome to the Ground Effects Windsor Waterfront Half Marathon Training Program! This 18-week program, brought to you by STRIDEWISE, offers a range of distance options and workouts per week. This range allows participants to start where they feel best, and progress safely through the training process to make it to the start line healthy and prepared. Keep an eye for words of wisdom and encouragement from Olympian Noelle Montcalm, elite runner and triathlete, Corey Bellemore, and others!

Parking

There will be many options for parking race morning for those commuting.
1) Ferry St. Parking Garage located at 1Riverside Dr. W with access off of Ferry St. This garage is open 24/7 and has a $/hr charge to park:

2) Pellisier St. Garage at the corner of Pelissier St. and Pitt St. is open 24/7 and has a $/hr charge to park:

3) Street parking is available throughout downtown, within minutes walk to the race site at Festival Plaza. Please respect all street parking signage.

Please note, there will be no parking around the Festival Plaza venue (base of Glengary and Aylmer lot will be off limits for parking) as this will be used for race-related operations.
