Swim Courses
The Mt Cook Alpine Salmon 3800m (Green) swim is 2 circuits of the 1900m course. The course goes in a clockwise direction from the start heading south towards the rowing course. Just prior to the rowing course there is a large Yellow turn buoy and swimmers then head alongside the rowing course till they reach the next large turn buoy past the island. This is towards the point where the 1000m Rowing sign is. At the next large Yellow turn buoy a right turn is completed to head north to the next large Yellow buoy in the lagoon and back to the start/finish to pass between the 2 buoys at the start/finish and commence the 2nd circuit of the course. To spot where the start finish/turn buoy is, look for the White Meridian Marquee and Black Start/Finish Arch on the shore.
The Twizel / Mackenzie Four Square 1,500m (Yellow) course goes in a clockwise direction from the start to the island, just to the right of the rowing course, then in a westerly direction to a large Yellow turn buoy and back to the start area. To spot where the start finish/turn buoy is, look for the White Meridian Marquee and Black Start/Finish Arch on the shore. Competitors doing the 1,500m swim do the triangle course once.
The Top Hut Sports Bar & Bistro 500m (Pink) course follows the north side of the lake shore in an anti-clockwise direction to a large Pink turn buoy and back to the start area.
For the finish area, you must pass between the two buoys close to the shore before exiting the lake to the finish gate.
