Hurricane Helene may have altered our landscape, but it hasn’t shaken our spirit. This year’s course will carry the weight of what was lost, and as you run, you’ll witness both beauty and destruction. The damage caused by this disaster is heartbreaking, and this year’s race will be emotional for many of us. Like all great comeback stories, this is our moment to rise—facing challenges together and discovering strength and hope with every stride.
The Asheville Marathon & Half presented by New Belgium takes participants on a running adventure through the best parts of this iconic community. Both courses begin in the heart of Downtown Asheville at Pack Square Park. Runners will traverse city streets and travel through historic neighborhoods. After a generous descent into the River Arts District, the half marathon will finish at New Belgium Brewing while the marathon route follows the banks of the French Broad River through parks and greenways before finishing in the same location as the half marathon.
Both courses have been submitted to city officials and are currently pending approval. Once approved, the routes will once again be USA Track and Field sanctioned and certified. The Asheville Marathon will continue to be a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.

Please note: The course time limit is 2:00 PM for all participants.
We encourage the seasoned and first time marathoners (including walkers) alike to take part. Our course, water stations and finish line are only open for 6.5 hours. This requires a 14:53 per mile pace.
Strollers/Dogs: Due to limited space on the Greenway and because the roads utilized will be open to traffic, strollers and dogs will not be permitted for the safety of all participants.
