My Story…
I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes 35 years ago at age 5 and spent 5 days admitted at Rainbow / UH. I was very fortunate to have received great care over the years and grew up playing sports and spent several years dedicated to playing football through middle and high school. Upon starting college, I continued running 10-15 miles per week and kept this up through medical school, residency, and afterwards.
Recently, I have been fortunate to have found great friends and a great community in Ann Arbor, where I have now lived for over 15 years, dedicated to running and have in the past few years run my first few races. I have also been honored to be a part of the Diabetes Sport Project.
Type 1 D is a daily challenge, but something that makes us all stronger and better people. Looking forward to running the Half Marathon in Cleveland.
