My Story…
This is my second year volunteering with the FMDSA and participating in the Cleveland Marathon. In 2024 I was diagnosed with FMD after suffering bilateral spontaneous vertebral artery dissections. It was a challenging time as many doctors were unaware and unsure of what to do to help me. I underwent a surgical procedure and developed a clot. I suffered from two mini strokes or TIAs last year on top of several other debilitating symptoms.
This year I have come so far and am beyond excited to be able to participate as an athlete in the race this year. I am asking for donations to the FMDSA to help raise awareness and education about the disease. FMD has no cure and no specific treatment. There is little known in the medical community about FMD.
Without the FMDSA I would have never made the connections I have with other patients or healthcare providers that have helped save my life. The FMDSAs goal is to raise awareness and education for patients, researchers, healthcare producers, and the community. Every donation makes an impact. 💙FMdStrong
