Course Description
All races start and finish at Micro Beach, Garapan, Saipan. Please note each race has a different turnaround point. Please ensure to turn at your designated race turnaround point and pass in front of the turning point signboard where your bib numbers will be checked and tracked. You will find distance markers approximately every five (5) kilometers. As road traffic will not be fully closed for the event, traffic cones will be deployed along the route of the race. Please run inside the designated running lane to ensure your safety, as well as to provide runners coming from the opposite direction with a clear path. Do not run outside the designated running lane.
Saipan Marathon Route
The Saipan Marathon Full Marathon course will start at 4:00 a.m. at the start line at Micro Beach, Garapan, Saipan. Full Marathon runners will head east on Micro Beach Road and will make a right onto Chalan Pale Arnold Road, otherwise known as Middle Road. You will then proceed south in the southbound lane towards Monsignor Guerrero Road, or Route 31, approximately 5.2 kilometers from the start; turn around and head back north (still in the southbound lane) to the gas station in Puerto Rico, approximately 15.1 kilometers from start, where you will make a left turn onto Industrial Drive. Remain on Industrial Drive and make a loop, passing the Army Reserve Center and turning left at the triangle intersection, then complete the loop back to Pale Arnold Road. Make a left back onto Pale Arnold Road and continue north to the intersection of Banzai Cliff Road, approximately 25.5 kilometers from start. Turn left onto Banzai Cliff Road. Make a right into the Veterans Cemetery and make a loop through the grounds back to the entrance/exit. Make a right back onto Banzai Cliff Road and proceed to Banzai Cliff and the final turnaround. As soon as you make the turning point, proceed south back along Pale Arnold Road to the start/finish line, making a right at Micro Beach Road for the finish line. Signboards and volunteers will guide you throughout the race.
Full Marathon Halfway Cut-Off Point
The Full Marathon course will have a Halfway Point where a cutoff time will take effect at 7:00 a.m. on the day of the race. The Full Marathon halfway point is located in San Roque at Winscos Market. There will be a signboard to indicate the Halfway Point. If the participant does not reach the Halfway Point by the cutoff time, the participant will not be allowed to continue the race, and the timing chip shall be confiscated by Saipan Marathon Officials. Saipan Marathon Officials will be there to monitor the halfway cut-off point and ensure compliance with all Saipan Marathon rules and regulations.
Half Marathon/10K/5K
The Half Marathon starts at 5:00 a.m. followed by the 10K starting at 6:00 a.m. and the 5K at 6:15 a.m. These three races will start by proceeding east on Micro Beach Road and turning left at Pale Arnold Road, otherwise known as Middle Road. Head north to your respective turning points and return along the same course to the finish line. Turning Point for 5K is in Puerto Rico, 10K will be in Tanapag, and Half Marathon will be in Marpi. Please be sure to turn at your respective turning points as all the race bib numbers will be monitored and checked at each turning point location.
Finish Line
The START and FINISH lines are at the same location at Mirco Beach. Once you cross the finish line you will receive your finisher’s medal, finisher’s T-shirt and certificate of completion in digital and/or printed form.
Rules of Competition
This event is sanctioned under the Northern Marianas Athletics rules and regulations. All participants must make their respective turns at each turning point.
