WEATHER: Please check the forecast the night before, as the 5K/1-mile and health fair will be held, rain or shine. Be prepared just in case we experience sprinkles.
ATTIRE/CLOTHING: Dress in layers and wear comfortable clothes you can move in and supportive shoes for walking. This is an interactive event and we want you to join in the movement.
PARKING: Parking is available in the main parking lot at the part; there are approximately 75 spots available. Additional parking is available on the streets and in the neighborhood.
RACE ANNOUNCEMENTS AND PROGRAM START: Announcements will start around 8:00-8:15am, with our official kickoff to start at 8:30am. We'll have opening remarks by from our hosts and special guests, followed by a fun, lively, low impact group warmup.
5K & 1-MILE EVENT: The 5K/1-mile will be held on the Sacramento River Parkway, which is a paved, two-lane bike and pedestrian pathway. There is a slight incline as we walk up the boat ramp to the top of the levee, but otherwise, the route is level and unobstructed. Anyone who feels they need assistance up the walkway can let our volunteers know and they will be happy to escort you. We will have volunteers on the course providing support until our last finishers comes through. There is an aid station with water, electrolytes and fuel at the 5K turnaround point, and cones and signs will mark where to make the u-turn for both distances.
CONSTRUCTION ADVISEMENT: For the past two years, there has been construction at the park, however it will not interfere with our event. A pedestrian walkway leading from the park to the top of the levee, via the boat ramp has been accommodated for us. Respresentatives from the City, County and US Army Corp of Engineers have been notified about the event, and we have worked hard to ensure the safety of our event and participants.
Let's goooooo!!!
