My Story…

Third time’s a charm! I’m running with the EM Allstarts team this year to fundraise for St. Joe’s.

This year, we’re taking on the Around the Bay Road Race (ATB) and raising funds to support St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation. St. Joe’s is in many ways the heart of Hamilton – nearly everyone in our community has been touched by the incredible patient care they provide.

Your donation to support our run will help to fund the robotic surgery revolution underway at St. Joe’s.

Over the past 12 years, more than 4,500 people have received robotic surgery and dozens of research studies have shown they’re experiencing smaller incisions that heal faster, with less scarring, and reduce the chance of infection, too. But what’s more, is that robotic surgery patients are going home sooner, with fewer post-operative complications and a quicker return to their lives and families.

Here’s the challenge: Robotic surgery is so new that only 3 of the 10 types of robotic surgery performed at St. Joe’s are funded by the province. For surgeries to help those needing a hip or knee replacement, and to treat those living with oral, esophageal, lung and bladder cancers, the Hospital relies on donations to events like the Bay Race. Let’s bring the power of robotic surgery to every patient who would benefit from it.

Thank you for donating to our run and for fueling the future of care at St. Joe’s.
