Our story…
The 3 Wishes Project celebrates 13 years at SJHH! Help us reach our team goal of raising over $20,000.
We are excited to take part in the 2025 Around the Bay Road Race (ATB) and invite you to support our team as we raise funds for the 3 Wishes Project at St. Joe’s. This meaningful initiative brings comfort, dignity, and personalized end-of-life experiences to dying patients and their families. With growing encouragement to expand the program to more wards, we need your help to reach our fundraising goal. Every donation brings us closer to making the 3 Wishes Project accessible across St. Joseph’s Health System, fostering compassion that extends beyond our walls. Your generosity will make a lasting impact on patients and their loved ones during life’s most delicate moments. Thank you for supporting our cause!
"This program honors the everyday hero: someone who may go unnoticed but whose life counted and was a good person." [Family member]
“The 3 Wishes Project provides families and patients the opportunity to have a dignified death and to have their last wishes respected and their lives celebrated." [ICU clinician]
About the 3 Wishes Project
Founded in January 2013 in the St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) Intensive Care Unit, the 3 Wishes Project was created to honor the dignity of dying patients while fostering meaningful connections between patients, families, and healthcare teams. By eliciting and fulfilling personalized end-of-life wishes, the project helps ease the grieving process and brings comfort in life’s final moments.
Wishes are often simple yet profoundly meaningful—a favorite song playing in the room, a final toast, a taste of a cherished food, a visit from a beloved pet, or being surrounded by loved ones. These small but powerful gestures create lasting memories for families and help celebrate the lives of those nearing the end of their journey.
What began as a compassionate initiative has since grown into a recognized clinical program, embraced by multidisciplinary teams including nurses, physicians, respiratory therapists, social workers, and spiritual care providers. The 3 Wishes Project has expanded beyond SJHH, reaching hospitals around the world, demonstrating that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a profound impact.
By bringing humanity and compassion to end-of-life care, the 3 Wishes Project ensures that patients are not defined by their illness but by the life they have lived—surrounded by love, meaningful rituals, and heartfelt connections.
Thank you for caring and supporting this important work!

Description
Welcome to our team fundraising page!
This year, we’re taking on the Around the Bay Road Race (ATB) and raising funds to support St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation. St. Joe’s is in many ways the heart of Hamilton – nearly everyone in our community has been touched by the incredible patient care they provide.
Your donation to support our run will help to fund the robotic surgery revolution underway at St. Joe’s.
Over the past 12 years, more than 4,500 people have received robotic surgery and dozens of research studies have shown they’re experiencing smaller incisions that heal faster, with less scarring, and reduce the chance of infection, too. But what’s more, is that robotic surgery patients are going home sooner, with fewer post-operative complications and a quicker return to their lives and families.
Here’s the challenge: Robotic surgery is so new that only 3 of the 10 types of robotic surgery performed at St. Joe’s are funded by the province. For surgeries to help those needing a hip or knee replacement, and to treat those living with oral, esophageal, lung and bladder cancers, the Hospital relies on donations to events like the Bay Race. Let’s bring the power of robotic surgery to every patient who would benefit from it.
Thank you for donating to our run and for fueling the future of care at St. Joe’s.
