Black Spur Ultra Update
Hi |*FIRST_NAME*|,
It's just two weeks until the 10th annual Black Spur Ultra! Stop dunking that donut and cram in some KM while you can.
If you haven't done so already, take a moment to read the Racer Info Package, and that should answer any of your outstanding questions.

KAR WAIVER
When you signed up, we asked you to fill out the Kimberley Alpine Resort waiver, which is separate from ours. Most people did, but we just want to make sure because no waiver = no race! Make sure to use the email address that you gave us when you signed up, or our list and their list won't sync up.
The confirmation will look something like E25-6HA-VGG-9Z1, and if your code doesn't, you might want to fill out the form again. Your entry: |*QUESTION_1260370*|.
Adult competitors: https://passes.skircr.com/event
Parental Release Agreement (for competitors 15yrs and younger): https://passes.skircr.com/parental
KAR staff will be on site checking everyone at sign-in so to get through registration faster, please make sure this is complete.
CREWING AND DROP BAGS
Black Spur is one of the very easiest races to crew. There is only one central staging area, and there is room all around for crews to set up. There is no driving at all, so they can kick back and enjoy the day, then help you with a speedy transition when you make it back to the resort.
There is also a big tent in the middle for drop bags if you do not have a crew. You can just drop your Transition Area (TA) bag on Saturday morning before the race. Relay runners do not typically need a drop bag, as you are only doing one loop at a time, and you have teammates to support you, but use your discretion.
If you are staying at the Trickle Creek Lodge or Polaris, you can go back to your hotel if you like, as long as you do not leave the immediate race area. Just let us know before you do so that we do not think you are missing.
SINISTER TRIPLE INTERIM RESULTS
Here are the current results for the Sinister Triple, for those who completed Sinister 7 and Death Race. There can be a lot of changes in the third race, based on both performance and competitors who do not start.
If you think you should be on the list and do not see your name, contact us right away. The results are compiled based on matching names, so if anyone registered with a different spelling, they may have been missed.

If you have questions about the Triple, take a look at the details and rules here. One common misunderstanding is what happens if you DNF. You are still eligible for the Triple, as long as you start the race.

WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS!
Volunteers add so much to the race, and it takes a lot of people to make CDR happen. Volun-tell everyone you know to sign up! We reward them all with great swag and fun times.

FAQS
BSU is super simple - one central area, one finish area, all the fun. Here are the things people ask about:
- As mentioned above, soloists can leave drop bags at the main tent on Saturday morning before the race - you really only need a drop bag if you do not have a crew
- We have a limited number of pre- and post-race meals available for sale, if you need them for family and friends
- Your meal ticket is on your bib - because the caterers need to know how many meals they should prepare for both Saturday and Sunday, we are not able to switch your meal times, but you are welcome to attend the Triple awards on Sunday morning without eating
- The Triple awards are on Sunday morning, after the regular awards
- Poles... this is really a personal choice, and they can both help or hinder - they are useful on Leg 1/4 but you may want to stow them for the really brushy sections
- The race is rain or shine
- Friends can check in for you – if you already signed a waiver online, you can get a friend to pick up your race kit and check you in – if you did not sign a waiver online, you will need to get them to bring one signed by you – they need to show ID to pick up on behalf of someone else
- Racers can only receive help from their support crew at the main transition area
- We will have water, Sun River Honey gels, Tailwind, and a variety of snacks at each CP – at the main staging area, we will have more fresh foods, as well as hot food after about 4pm
CAMPING + SHOWERS + WASHROOMS, OH MY!
If you didn't snag a hotel room at Trickle Creek Lodge, Kimberley Alpine Resort is offering limited dry camping for tents in the parking area southeast of Trickle Creek lodge. For RVs, please park in the south parking lot away from the train tracks.
Showers will be open in the Conference Centre on Friday 10am–10pm, Saturday 6am–10pm, and Sunday 6am–11am.
Washrooms will be open in the Slopeside Café starting Saturday morning and open all weekend. No porta-potties for you beautiful people!
CONDITIONS
Everything is looking good in Kimberley. There is hardly any wildfire smoke this year. There is currently a bit of rain in the forecast, but it should be drying up for race weekend... but who really knows in the mountains. Kimberley is a great place to be right now.
RACE SWAG
These just arrived, and we look forward to putting one of these beautiful steins in every racer's bag.
See you soon. Train hard and have fun out there.
Kindest regards,
Brian Gallant
