Volunteer Area Descriptions
Here is a brief description of each volunteer area. Full details will be sent out prior to the race. Days and times of each area are listed on the volunteer registration page when you register.
Race Package Pick up (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
Check off runners names, check shirt size, give out bibs and shirt
Course Set up / Tear Down (Sunday)
Working as a team set up course equipment - cones, km markers, signage, tables, water and equipment for aid stations. Set up relay exchange equipment. Some heavy lifting may be required. Once the last runner has passed the turnaround (Exeter Rd) gather all course equipment from turnaround to the finish.
Start / Finish /Festival area Set Up and Tear Down (Sunday)
Working as a team set up start area including tables, tents, bunting, cones, water. Set up tents and tables in Windsor Park. During race ensure water is refilled in finish area, move runners along once they have finished and if directed by the team lead, give out medals. Once the race has finished, tear down finish area and Windsor Park. Some heavy lifting may be required.
Food Prep /Set up and Tear Down (Sunday)
As directed by the food area team leads set up tables and equipment (tent will already be in place). Assist in prepping food, hand out food to participants. Clear area and wipe down after event.
Bag Check (Sunday)
Collect bags from participants - mark race numbers down on provided labels and place on bag. Tarp provided for bags.
Road Marshalls - minimum age is 17 (Sunday)
Marshalls are placed at intersections - with barricades - to ensure traffic does not cross. Full instructions with escape routes for residents will be provided to each volunteer. Professional traffic control personnel and police will be at busy intersections. Some shifts are short (1.5-2 hrs) and some longer (up to 5hrs).
