Every dollar raised will go to supporting victims of sexual assault and child abuse these funds help to pay for items that are not covered by grant funding. About La Piñon
La Piñon Sexual Assault Recovery Services of Southern New Mexico is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a comprehensive array of services related to sexual violence and child abuse to individuals, families, and the community. We believe that by offering unconditional support, information and a safe environment for change, the person who has been sexually assaulted can take the steps to regarding control of their lives and make the transition from victim to survivor. Including to seamlessly provide high quality intervention services to children and their families to reduce trauma and minimize long-term effects for all forms of child maltreatment, abuse, and neglect. La Piñon began offering services on July 1, 1992. La Piñon remains the only agency in Southern New Mexico providing comprehensive services to victims and their families. The Children’s Advocacy Center opened its doors as a program under La Piñon on July 1, 2015. La Piñon was granted its National Accreditation by the National Children’s Alliance in October 2018. La Piñon offers services to include 24/7 crisis intervention by phone or in person, community outreach and education, SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) unit, and KIDTALK (636-3636) which is a warm line for children, outpatient therapeutic counseling and the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC). La Piñon’s service area covers the counties of Doña Ana, Sierra, Luna, and Hidalgo. Our main office is in Las Cruces, NM, however we do have two satellite offices in Deming, NM and Truth or Consequences, NM. All our services are at no cost to the community we serve and are available to anyone who has experienced sexual assault or a form of child abuse. La Piñon does not discriminate against any person on the basis of religion, sex, color, national origin, age, disability or sexual orientation.
How you can help raise funds for SASS: PEER-to-PEER Fundraising Campaign
Best way you can help raise funds, is to register for this event!
This event is a peer-to-peer fundraising campaign event where participants ask friends and family to donate to a cause via our fundraising platform.
UNLIKE old school pledge drives which are a ton of work: with our easy to use platform:
- No calling friends and family
- No walking the neighborhood knocking on doors
- No Pledge sheets to keep track of
- No tracking down or collecting of funds after event.
INSTEAD when you register, you will be given a Unique Personal Fundraising Page then just:
- Set up your personal pledge page! (How to set up pledge page)
- Determine the amount you wish to raise.
- Share your pledge page with family and friends to donate on your behalf. (How to share pledge page)
- Challenge your friends and family to participate as well as donate!

Proper Bib Placement
All participants will be assigned a bib number with or without a rip off tag. For us to properly time your race, our staff and video camera (if available) needs to be able to read your bib number as you cross the finish line. Race bibs must be worn on the outside of your clothing on the front of your jersey/shirt (as shown in the picture to the left). Please do not, crimple or fold the bib. If you do not wear the bib as requested, your finish may not be read properly, and no time will be recorded in the results.
You may keep your bib following the race. It does not need to be returned.
Refunds / Transfer Policy / Disqualifying
NO Refund on race entry fees. La Pinon does allow for race fees to be transfer to other race events or participant if available.
We strongly suggest you purchase the race insurance during the registration in case you are unable to attend the race or race is cancelled. You can only purchase the insurance during registration!
Disqualifying participants for using other someone else Bib. Any participant who runs under someone else’s bib will be disqualified and will not be scored. For the safety of our runners, and in case of a medical emergency, it is imperative that the registration data associated with the race number belongs to the person wearing the bib. If race organizers become aware that a runner has participated in one of our events with a bib that is not registered to that runner, both the runner and the person to whom the bib is registered will be prohibited from participating in subsequent La Pinon events for a minimum of two years.
