My Story…
In December 2018 l suffered a spinal cord injury that initially paralyzed me from the chest down, and affected my hand and arm strength. I was introduced to Spinal Cord Injury BC during my 6 month hospital stay. One of the peers made regular visits to answer my questions and offer suggestions on how to navigate this new life. Since then, SCI BC has introduced me to new adaptive activities, such as boxing, mountain biking, yoga, etc. They also provide a community for social events and educational seminars. They help us thrive versus just survive.
This year I'm using my walker to walk 5km in 1 day, raising funds for SCI BC's programs.
My previous best distance is 2 km, so I’m definitely challenging myself. I realize there are many worthwhile causes out there, so l appreciate any type of support, whether it's financial or words of encouragement.
