My Story…
Hi friends, as the President of the Tumour Foundation of BC, please help me raise money to continue to operate BC’s only dedicated source of support and advocacy, as well as building our NF clinic.
Who are we? We are dedicated to optimizing the health and wellbeing of individuals impacted by neurofibromatosis (NF) through support, education, and advocacy for improved care.
So Lauren, what is NF? NF is a genetic condition which causes tumours to grow on nerves throughout the body. These tumours are often inoperable, and can cause complications such as disfigurement, bone deformities, vision impairment, learning disabilities, cancer, and serious mental health conditions. But, BC MSP often does not cover the costs of tumour removal.
Why is donating to my run important? We are at a critical crossroads after 40 years. Without immediate funding, we face the heartbreaking reality of closing our doors. This would mean that thousands of individuals and families affected by NF in British Columbia would lose their only dedicated source of support, advocacy, and trusted information. We urgently need to raise funds so we can continue to serve, advocate, and provide resources that families count on every day.
What’s our vision? Our long-term vision remains strong: to establish BC’s first NF clinic, ensuring patients no longer have to manage their complex medical needs alone.
Could you imagine your doctor looking to you for answers and direction on how to treat your illness, because there's no cure? That’s what families and friends experience every day after a loved one receives an NF diagnosis. Through this, I want to help raise vital revenue to support our initiative of establishing BC's first medical clinic for patients with neurofibromatosis. With no medical experts or specialized clinic in the province where families can go to receive care, NF patients and parents of children with NF are forced to become the experts in managing their own care.
TL;DR: You're not just supporting me in walking a 5k, you will be making a significant impact to improve the lives, health, and wellbeing for all British Columbians affected by NF. So thank you so, so much.
(By the way, I'm doing a 5k, I don't think I could do a half-marathon, lol)

Donate to help Lauren raise money for 2025 Vancouver Half Marathon’s fundraising campaign.
