The 2025 Butter Tart Races will be supporting Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation. Please help us raise funds for this important community resource.
Donations will support the Mental Health and Addictions (MHA) Program at Joseph Brant Hospital (JBH), which provides a full-continuum model of care, planned and designed according to needs of the patients in our community. Focussed on early detection and early intervention, the JBH MHA Program prevents issues from compounding and becoming more complex in the future by ensuring patients receive the right care at the right time. JBH’s award-winning and innovative MHA programs are designed to remove barriers and the unnecessary challenges for patients and families trying to navigate a complex system.
Tax receipts will only be issued for donations of $20.00 or more.
Why We Run. Alison’s Story
Alison’s journey with mental health brought her to Joseph Brant Hospital, where she found the care and support she needed to move forward. Thanks to the programs and services made possible through community support, Alison is now in a better place, and her story is a reminder of the impact we can all make together.
For Alison, it all started with counting. “Since the age of eight, relentless, unexplainable counting was the base for my day,” she says. “I was checking door knobs three times, checking that the stove was turned off three times.”
Alison felt like doing things in a very particular way was the key to safety, and if she didn’t do them, something terrible would happen. Read Alison’s full story here.
Operating for over 30 years, Hamilton Food Share is the city’s Emergency Food Shipping and Receiving Hub.
Hamilton Food Share provides resources to 16 member agencies, operating 22 hunger-relief programs across the greater Hamilton region.
These emergency food programs support over 10,400 visits every month representing over 17,600 unique individuals, 34% of whom are children. Additionally, the hot meal programs supported by Hamilton Food Share are serving 29,000 hot meals each month to our neighbours in need.
A $1 donation will provide $5 worth of nutritious food to our community. Your support will ensure our most vulnerable neighbours, like the 6,050 children and 1,668 seniors who line up at a food bank each month, have access to the nutritious food they need.
Non-perishable food items will also be collected at the race!
