Get ready to make a difference and have a great time at the 8^th annual NOLA Dogs Race to the Rescue 5K for Animal Rescue on October 12, 2025! This unique race takes you through the stunning, historic grounds of Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery, hosted by Heaven’s Pets, where every step you take helps save animals in need.

We’re calling on all animal lovers to join the cause and be part of the solution! While it’s not a requirement, we’d love for you to commit to raising at least $100. AND if you hit $250 or more, your registration is FREE! Whether you join us for the chip-timed race or choose the virtual option, your participation will directly support rescue efforts.

Who do we support?

Proceeds from this race will be donated to the following organizations:

Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO) - Jefferson Parish

Take Paws - Orleans Parish

Trampled Rose Rescue - Tangipahoa Parish

Zeus' Rescues - Orleans Parish

The Inner Pup - Education and Prevention Services. Based in New Orleans but assists other organizations nationwide and internationally.

2022 Rescue Warriors

All of these organizations are 501(c)(3) non-profits. The first four of these rescues take in abandoned, neglected and abused animals. They also pull animals from shelters statewide and beyond. During hurricane season, they travel to other states and help rescue organizations move animals out of harm's way. Most animals arrive with heartworm or other health issues and vet bills can easily go higher than $1000 per animal. They all have foster programs set up until permanent homes can be found.

None of these rescues receive any government funding. It is through donations of caring people that they are able to do the amazing work that they do.

So join us in raising money for these worthy organizations. Run the race, make a donation, create a fundraising page, ask your friends to run OR WALK with you.

And don't forget to stay tuned for our auction! Items include Art, Restaurant Gift Cards, Hotel Stays and more! The auction will begin two weeks prior to the race and will end at the conclusion of the awards ceremony on RACE DAY! This will be an online auction so bring your cell phones!

Event FAQ

NOLA Dogs " Race to the Rescue " 5K Run/Walk, SUNDAY, October 12, 2025 - Heaven's Pets at Lake Lawn Metairie Cemeteries, New Orleans, LA 70124

7:00 am - Day of race Registration and Packet Pickup Opens

8:00 am - Pet Parade Walk (must be on leash)

8:30 am - Start of 5K Run Division

8:31 am - Start of 5K Walk Division

9:30 am - Blessing of the Pets

9:45 am - 5K Award presentations

PARTICIPATION IN THE 5K RUN / WALK IS FOR TWO LEGGED CREATURES ( HUMANS ). *DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE 5K RUN / WALK and on the 5K COURSE

Packet Pickup details: ( T-Shirt, Race Number bib ) * Two options

Pre-Race day scheduled for Friday, October 10th (3:00 pm - 6:00 pm) hosted by Alice & Amelia Gift Shop, 4432 Magazine Street, New Orleans, La. 70115

Packet Pickup day of race: At the race site (Heaven's Pets) opening at 7:00 am

Registration will be available during pre-race day packet pickup event and on the day of race at the race site.

Parking: Use the large parking lots adjacent to Lakelawn Metairie Cemetery funeral home. Parking on Avenue " W " will be restricted to race officials, sponsors, vendors. * Please Do Not Park on grass.

Awards: Custom commemorative finisher medallions to all official 5K Finishers

Awards - 5K Divisions: 1st overall male and female receive a Cash Award courtesy of Alice & Amelia Gift Shop. Age group division awards 1st place male and female in ages 19-under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-over.

There will be numerous Random Awards given out!

Chip Timed event: Please wear your bib number on front only and visible. Your timing chip is affixed to reverse side of bib. Cross check name label printed on bib to confirm name is your name. Each bib is issued specifically for each individual entrant.
