Sistema Toronto provides musical and intellectual opportunities to over 500 children and youth each year living in vulnerable communities across Toronto, with the goal of transformative social action.
Sistema Toronto is first and foremost a social development program, using ensemble-based music education to transform the lives of children. Sistema Toronto students work together for 10 hours of weekly instruction. They learn strings (violin, viola, cello, or double bass), percussion, choir and Music & Movement while developing important life skills like problem solving, empathy, and self-advocacy. When students graduate from our intensive core program, they have the option of returning to their centre each week to volunteer and join the Youth Honours Orchestra.
We build stronger communities by enabling children and youth from marginalized neighbourhoods to overcome poverty, grow, and thrive as engaged citizens and future leaders.

Sistema Toronto currently serves 500 students across the city, but our program is growing with the goal of serving 1000 kids every week, introducing new program offerings, and providing leadership opportunities to our honours students. Every donation we receive helps support this expansion to bring transformative musical education to even more of Toronto’s young people, helping them grow to realize their full potential as engaged and responsible citizens.
