Help Jonathan raise money

This year, I find myself reflecting again on the sacrifices my dad and grandpa made for our family. My grandpa took the risk by immigrating to Canada so his children and grandchildren could have a better future. My dad worked tirelessly on the road for weeks at a time so my to provide for our family, yet he somehow never missed a single important game, event, or milestone of my life. Both their dedication and selflessness are the reasons I’ve had the opportunities I do today.

Five years ago, I lost my grandpa to prostate cancer and its associated comorbidities. It was during the height of COVID, and I never had the chance to properly say goodbye. That loss still sits heavily with me. Now, my dad is facing his own battle with early-stage prostate cancer. His doctors are keeping a close eye on him, and while we remain hopeful, the reality of what he’s going through scary and it is something I think about all the time. Knowing prostate cancer is genetic, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared for my own future too.

That is why I’m once again running a half marathon to raise money and awareness for prostate cancer research. I’m running in honour of both my dad and my grandpa: for my grandpa’s memory, and for my dad’s continued health. I hope this challenge not only inspires me but hopefully others to stay active. I wish it encourages my dad to keep strong in his own journey as well as many others who may be in very similar situations dealing with fighting cancer.

Last year, we raised over $2500 for the Canadian Cancer Society and we hope to match or surpass that this year. Every donation, no matter the size, means so much. Thank you for supporting this cause that means so much to me.
