My Story…
Join My Marathon Journey to Support Parkinson Canada
This year, I'm taking on the challenge of running the Toronto Waterfront Marathon and am raising money for Parkinson Canada in the process
More than 100,000 Canadians - including my dad - are living with Parkinson's disease, which is a progressive neurological condition that affects movement and countless other aspects of daily life.
My goal is to raise money that will make a real, measurable difference in the lives of people facing this disease. Your donation is a direct investment in a future without Parkinson's, and it also provides crucial support for people currently living with Parkinson’s, as well as their families
Here's a closer look at how Parkinson Canada uses the funds you donate, based on their 2024 program spending:
38% funds life-changing research. Your gift supports projects across Canada that are working to better understand Parkinson's, find new treatments, and move us closer to a cure. This includes funding for the Canadian Open Parkinson Network (C-OPN), which helps accelerate research by connecting scientists with data from thousands of Canadians with Parkinson's.
30% provides essential support and services. This is the lifeline for so many people. Your donation ensures access to the Peer-to-Peer Support Program, online support groups, and a dedicated team that answered more than 5,400 calls and emails for help in 2024 alone.
20% raises vital awareness. Your contribution helps reduce stigma and inform the public about the realities of living with Parkinson's. Their awareness programs, like the "Find Your Swagger" campaign, reached thousands of people, empowering them to live well with the disease.
12% drives powerful advocacy. Donations help push for policy changes that improve care for the Parkinson's community. In 2024, their advocacy efforts helped secure a new deep brain stimulation surgery clinic, providing a critical new treatment option for people in New Brunswick.
I am extremely grateful for any donations - big or small - that you make to help support people living with Parkinson’s.
