Why I'm walking for social justice
Yes, I’m willingly doing cardio - but for a good cause. This October I’ll be walking the 5K Toronto Waterfront Marathon to raise funds for the Social Justice Network (SJN) at Islington United Church which includes the Affirm team which I am a member of working to bring queer-affirming into faith spaces.
Earlier this year, we screened 1946 — a documentary about how “homosexual” got mistranslated into the Bible, one mistake, huge impact.
In 2025–26 the Affirm team is looking forward to bringing you another big film screening, and other events that will slay in spirit and stilettos. The other amazing teams in the SJN have equally amazing plans in progress including education on racism, growing fresh organic produce for food banks, sponsoring and supporting refugees, and working to foster reconciliation with our Indigenous neighbours.
Wanna support this holy queer chaos?
Thanks for cheering me on — and helping us create more space for everyone to feel at home. 💜
