Join the Texas Distance Challenge community for our 5th Season!
Nominated as one of the "Best Virtual Race Experiences" by BibRave, Run / Walk, or Ride "The Big Dipper" up to 500 miles or "The Lone Star" up to 3,000 miles from TODAY through August 31st 2025.
Interested in shorter distances? Gather as many of your friends, family members or co-workers and conquer it as a team! The more people you have on the team, the less miles each person needs to contribute.
Season 5 updates:
- This year, our theme will be "The Stars at Night"
- We've moved our start date to January to give you a break from the Texas heat! At least, for the first half of the Challenge...
- The Big Dipper will travel through the heart of Texas, and is this year's "short" route.
- The Lone Star will traverse back and forth across our great State, forming the shape of a star! This is our long route, replacing the Loop.
- Back by popular demand: Custom Bike Jerseys!
- All Participants will be mailed a soft T-Shirt (or Jersey if registered for the Lone Star), Event Decal, Welcome Note and commemorative Bib Number.
- New this year: Finisher Medals! In addition to a custom Finisher Decal, all finishers will be sent the first of it's kind custom TDC Finisher Medal!
This is a virtual mile logging challenge that you can conquer from anywhere in the world. Don't worry, we won't make you actually ride across the state (yet)! We're also thrilled to provide participants with progress maps, mileage logs and Strava & Garmin integration in addition to traditional manual mileage entry.
The Texas Distance Challenge celebrates the great State of Texas and along the way you will explore the vastness and diversity of its offerings.
The Texas Distance Challenge is a Texas-owned event that benefits Texas businesses such as our design partners Kong Screen Printing.
In addition, we proudly support Carry The Load, a 501c3 non-profit, with the mission to provide active ways to honor and remember our nation's heroes by connecting Americans to the sacrifices made by our military, veterans, first responders and their families. We encourage all Texas Distance Challenge participants to donate and/or fundraise for this incredible organization. Your tax deductible donation enables Carry The Load to help thousands of military, veterans, first responders and their families. Funds raised help provide healing of the mind, body and soul of our nation's warriors. 
Participant Perks
- Every participant will receive a custom Texas Distance Challenge T-Shirt or Jersey (Ride the Lone Star), Decal and Bib, created by a Texas designer, to kick off the challenge.
- Participants are eligible to earn a Finisher's Medal (NEW for 2025!) and Finisher's decal.
- Access to a like-minded, positive, all-level fitness community! Follow us on Strava, Instagram & Facebook and please share your milestones along the way.
- Access to our custom mile logging portal with maps to track your progress and leaderboards based on your event!
- Integration with Strava & Garmin to help streamline your mile logging process.
- Participants will have access to collaborate on a Texas Distance Challenge Spotify Playlist. Add your favorite Texas music and listen to Texas jams from your fellow participants.

You asked for it, now can you complete the Lone Star on foot? Few will attempt to conquer this solo, many will gather a bundle of friends and take on as a team.
