My Story
Last August, my husband took my daughter Esme to SickKids for an x-ray because her arm hurt. A few hours later she was diagnosed with leukemia. Esme has been in treatment since, missing most of the school year and doing a lot of hard things. In total, her treatment plan lasts 2.5 years.
We love Campfire Circle. Their programs connect Esme to other kids with similar stories, and ensure she doesn't miss out on all the fun of being five, even when she's at the hospital. For over 40 years Campfire Circle has provided play-based experiences through our in-hospital, community, and overnight camps for kids with cancer or serious illness and their families. We empower kids to take back their childhood, regardless of their medical diagnosis.
Now, more than ever, kids with serious illness and their families need moments of joy, connection, and healing.
