As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the YMCA makes a promise to never turn anyone away from our programs due to inability to pay. Each year, the Y serves the needs of our community by providing free or highly subsidized programming to those who need us the most. The YMCA focuses on the following critical community needs:

• Third-grade reading
• Child Development
• Teen Development
• Drowning Prevention
• Health and well-being

Each day, we are enriching the lives of our community members, providing a safe place for all children to be nurtured and belong, tackling health challenges like cancer through LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, helping to close the gap for under-resourced children who have fallen behind in reading, ensuring that all children, regardless of their ability, have a place to belong, and providing swim lessons to children in our most fragile communities, so they are safe around open water.

This Ballantyne road race tradition continues on April 5th, marking the 21st annual Run! Ballantyne 8K, 5K, and Fun Run Presented by Northwood Office. With almost 1,500 participants last year, this Sara’s YMCA signature event is one of the largest road races in the Ballantyne area. Hit the pavement and make your footprints count in support of the YMCA Annual Campaign that has the potential to give youth an opportunity to play, learn and grow in a safe and thriving environment in enriching YMCA programs like preschool, after school, summer camp and sports.

In 2023, we raised over $100,000 through our YMCA Annual Campaign event participants, volunteers and sponsors to positively impact those in need in throughout the YMCA of Greater Charlotte!
